The Gary Sinise Foundation serves our nation by honoring our defenders,
veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.
We do this by creating and supporting unique programs designed
to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.
The Department of Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service (VAVS)
has provide over 76 years of service to America's Veterans seeking care in
VA health care facilities. Since 1946, VAVS volunteers have donated over
748.9 million hours of service.
VAVS is one of the largest volunteer programs in the Federal
government. More than 7,400 national and community
organizations support VAVS. The program is supported by a
VAVS National Advisory Committee, comprising 55 major Veteran,
civic, and service organizations, which reports to the
Secretary through the Under Secretary for Health.
It's mission is to provide a structured Volunteer
Program under the management of VA
compensated employees in cooperation with community resources to serve
America's Veterans and their families with dignity and compassion.
The VAVS focuses on assisting in delivery of high quality,
Veteran centered care.
